The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Central Railway has released the RRC Central Railway Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 Notification for 59 vacancies under the Open Advertisement Sports Quota (2026-27). Eligible Indian sportspersons can apply online for Group ‘C’ and Level-1 (erstwhile Group ‘D‘) posts through the official RRC Central Railway website within the prescribed application period.

As per the official notification, the recruitment includes 21 Group ‘C’ posts in Pay Levels 5/4 and 3/2, along with 38 Level-1 posts, offering an excellent opportunity for outstanding sportspersons to secure a government job in the Indian Railways.

The vacancies are distributed across Level 5/4, Level 3/2, and Level-1 pay levels based on the sports discipline, category, and the achievement standards prescribed in the official notification.

Candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria for Level 5/4 or Level 3/2 posts are also eligible to apply for Level-1 posts. However, selection and appointment will be made strictly according to the recruitment rules and eligibility conditions.

RRC Central Railway Sports Quota Educational Qualification 2026

Candidates must possess the required educational qualification according to the pay level for which they are applying.

• Pay Level Required Educational Qualification
• Level 5/4 Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University.
• Level 3/2 12th Pass (+2) or equivalent OR Matriculation with Course Completed Act Apprenticeship OR Matriculation with ITI approved by NCVT/SCVT.
• Level-1 10th Pass OR ITI OR equivalent qualification OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by NCVT.

Educational Qualification Guidelines

• Higher educational qualifications are acceptable.
• Candidates possessing Graduation or Post-Graduation must produce the original certificates during Sports Trial and Document Verification.
• Candidates appointed as Clerk-cum-Typist must acquire a typing speed of 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi within four years of appointment.

Apart from educational qualifications, candidates must possess the prescribed sports achievements recognized by the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB).

Sports Eligibility for Level 5/4 Posts

Candidates should fulfill any one of the following:

• Represented India in the Olympic Games (Senior Category).
• Secured 3rd position or above in the World Cup (Junior/Youth/Senior).
• Secured 3rd position or above in the World Championships (Junior/Senior).
• Secured 3rd position or above in the Asian Games (Senior).
• Secured 3rd position or above in the Commonwealth Games (Senior).
• Secured 3rd position or above in the Youth Olympics.
• Secured 3rd position or above in the Champions Trophy (Hockey).

Sports Eligibility for Level 3/2 Posts

Candidates should fulfill any one of the following:

• Represented India in the World Cup, World Championships, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympics, or Champions Trophy (Hockey).
• Secured 3rd position or above in the Commonwealth Championships.
• Secured 3rd position or above in the Asian Championships/Asia Cup.
• Secured 3rd position or above in the South Asian Federation (SAF) Games.
• Secured 3rd position or above in the USIC World Railways Championships.
• Secured 3rd position or above in the World University Games.
• Secured 3rd position or above in the Senior, Junior, or Youth National Championships.
• Secured 3rd position or above in the National Games conducted by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
• Secured 3rd position or above in the All India Inter-University Championship conducted by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
• Secured 1st position in the Federation Cup Championship (Senior Category).

Sports Eligibility for Level-1 Posts

Candidates should fulfill any one of the following:

• Represented India in the Commonwealth Championships, Asian Championships/Asia Cup, South Asian Federation Games, USIC World Railways Championships, or World University Games.
• Secured 3rd position or above in the Federation Cup Championship (Senior Category).
• Represented a State or equivalent unit and secured at least 8th position in the Senior National Championships (excluding Marathon and Cross Country).
• Secured 3rd position or above in the Senior, Junior, or Youth National Championships.

Important Sports Eligibility Guidelines

Candidates should note the following conditions before applying:

• Only sports achievements recognized by the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) will be considered.
• Championships must be organized by recognized International, National, or State Sports Federations.
• Only Senior National and Junior National Championships are valid.
• Rural Games, Festival Meets, Invitation Tournaments, and similar events will not be considered.
• Sports achievements must have been obtained on or after 01 April 2024.
• As per RBE No. 118/2025, sports certificates must be issued by National Sports Federations (NSFs) recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MoYAS).

Discipline-Specific Eligibility

Athletics : Gold medal winners in Senior Open National Championships, National Inter-State Championships, or Asian Championships may be considered for Level 5/4 posts. Medal-winning performances in Senior National Inter-State Championships may also be considered for Level 3/2 posts.

Cricket (Men)
Level 5/4: Representation in India-A or India U-19 in at least two Test, ODI, or T20 matches.
Level 3/2: Participation up to the Quarter-Final stage in prescribed championships.
Level-1: Participation up to the Pre-Quarter-Final stage in Senior, U-23, or U-19 All India Inter-State Championships.

Hockey (Men)

Candidates who have participated in international tournaments involving four or more nations or reached the Semi-Finals of the Senior National Hockey Championship may be considered as per the recruitment norms.
