Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai has released the ICF Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 notification for 1010 Apprentice posts in various designated trades. Eligible candidates can apply online through the official ICF apprenticeship website, pb.icf.gov.in.

The ICF Apprentice online application process started on 08 August 2026 and the last date to submit the application form is 07 September 2026 up to 5:30 PM. Candidates who meet the required educational qualification and age criteria can apply online for apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961.

ICF Apprentice Higher Qualification Rule

• Candidates must be residents of Tamil Nadu and/or registered with a local Employment Exchange in Tamil Nadu, with the registration date not later than the last date of application.
• This condition does not apply to wards of Railway employees, subject to the prescribed requirements.
• Wards of Railway employees must provide the Railway employee’s Identity Card/Service Certificate, duly attested by a Gazetted Officer, along with the UMID Card and PPO copy during Document Verification.
• Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are eligible for reserved vacancies trade-wise, subject to the applicable disability categories.
• PwBD candidates must have at least 40% relevant disability and produce a valid disability certificate issued by the Central or State Government.

Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai has announced 1010 Act Apprentice vacancies under the ICF Apprentice Recruitment 2026. The vacancies are divided between Freshers and Ex-ITI candidates across multiple trades.

ICF Act Apprentice Stipend 2026

Candidates selected under ICF Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 will receive a monthly stipend during their apprenticeship training. The stipend amount varies according to the candidate’s qualification and category.

ICF Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process

The ICF Act Apprentice Selection Process 2026 is primarily based on merit. Candidates are shortlisted according to their Class 10th marks, followed by trade allotment, document verification, medical fitness and execution of the apprenticeship contract.

ICF Apprentice Selection Process 2026

1. Merit List

• The merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in Class 10th (Std X).
• For candidates who passed Class 10th during the COVID period and whose marks were awarded under the applicable COVID-related assessment system, proof such as the Class 9th marksheet or Class 10th half-yearly marksheet, duly signed by the Principal, may be considered as prescribed in the notification.

2. Tie-Breaking Criteria

• If two or more candidates secure equal marks, preference is given to the older candidate.
• If the candidates have the same date of birth, the candidate who passed Class 10th earlier will be placed higher in the merit list.

3. Trade Allotment for Freshers

• Freshers can exercise their preferred trade options. Trade allotment is made according to the candidate’s merit rank and availability of vacancies.
• Once a trade is allotted, requests for change of trade will not be entertained.
• Candidates selected under the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category will be allotted only trades that are permissible for their respective disability category.

4. Trade Allotment for Ex-ITI Candidates

• Ex-ITI candidates will undergo apprenticeship training in the trade for which they possess the required ITI certificate.

5. Medical Fitness

• Selected candidates must be physically fit as prescribed under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprentices Rules.
• Candidates are required to produce a Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a Government-authorised doctor not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon during Document Verification.

6. Apprenticeship Contract

• Selected candidates must execute the prescribed Contract of Apprenticeship before joining the training.
• In the case of a minor candidate, the apprenticeship contract must be executed by the candidate’s guardian as per the applicable guidelines of the Regional Directorate of Apprenticeship Training, Guindy, Chennai.

7. Document Verification

• Candidates shortlisted for ICF Apprentice training must produce the required original documents during Document Verification.
• The original Transfer Certificate for the qualifying examination, such as Class 10th, Class 12th or ITI, must be produced as prescribed.

1. Visit the official ICF website at pb.icf.gov.in.
