UPSC CGSE 2027 Notification Out for 127 Posts – Apply Online

UPSC CGSE 2027 Notification has been released by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the Combined Geo-Scientist Examination, 2027. The examination is being conducted for 127 tentative vacancies in the Geological Survey of India (GSI) and Central Ground Water Board (CGWB).

UPSC CGSE 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must satisfy the prescribed nationality, educational qualification and age limit before applying for UPSC CGSE 2027.

Nationality

  • A citizen of India; or
  • A subject of Nepal; or
  • A subject of Bhutan; or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India; or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India, subject to the eligibility requirements prescribed by the Government of India.

UPSC CGSE Age Limit 2027

  • Attained 21 years of age; and
  • Must not have attained 32 years of age as on 01 January 2027.

Therefore, candidates should have been born not earlier than 02 January 1995 and not later than 01 January 2006.

UPSC CGSE 2027 Exam Pattern

The UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Examination is conducted in three stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination
  2. Main Examination
  3. Personality Test/Interview

Stage 1 – Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination is objective type and carries a total of 400 marks.

There is negative marking for incorrect answers in the objective-type papers.

Stage 2 – Main Examination

  • Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination are shortlisted for the Main Examination.
  • The Main Examination consists of three conventional/descriptive papers relevant to the candidate’s stream and carries 600 marks in total.
  • The Main Examination is scheduled for: 19 June 2027 and 20 June 2027

Stage 3 – Personality Test

  • Candidates who qualify in the Main Examination are called for the Personality Test/Interview, which carries 200 marks.
  • The final merit is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the Main Examination and Personality Test, subject to the applicable UPSC rules.

UPSC CGSE 2027 Selection Process

  • Preliminary Examination → Main Examination → Personality Test/Interview → Final Merit List
  • The Preliminary Examination is used to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination. Candidates qualifying in the Main Examination are subsequently called for the Personality Test.
