GSRTC has announced 2,510 vacancies for the Helper post. The vacancies are distributed among different categories as mentioned in the recruitment notification.

GSRTC Helper Eligibility Criteria 2026
Candidates must fulfil the prescribed eligibility conditions for GSRTC Helper Recruitment 2026. The major requirements relate to nationality, educational qualification, age, vision and other conditions mentioned in the official notification.
Nationality
A candidate must be:
- A citizen of India; or
- A subject of Nepal; or
- A subject of Bhutan; or
- A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India; or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from the countries specified in the recruitment notification with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Candidates falling under the specified categories other than Indian citizens must possess the required certificate of eligibility issued by the Government, wherever applicable.
Vision Requirement
- Candidates must have clear/normal vision (Chokhhu) as prescribed for the post.
- Reserved-category candidates may apply against unreserved vacancies; however, they will have to meet the selection standards applicable to unreserved candidates.
GSRTC Helper Educational Qualification 2026
Candidates must have passed at least a one-year course from a Government-recognised ITI in any one of the following trades:

Apprenticeship Qualification and Additional Weightage
Candidates who have completed an apprenticeship in the same ITI trade as their minimum educational qualification may receive additional weightage.
- Government organisation,
- Semi-Government organisation,
- Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), or
- Limited/Private Limited company,
and the candidate must possess the required NCVT certificate and marksheet.
For example, a candidate who has completed ITI Electrician must have completed the apprenticeship specifically in the Electrician trade to claim the applicable apprenticeship weightage. Apprenticeship in another trade, such as Lineman or Wireman, will not qualify for this additional weightage.
GSRTC Helper Age Limit 2026
The minimum age required to apply is 18 years. The maximum age varies according to the candidate’s category and applicable relaxation.

The basic age limit of 18 to 35 years is calculated as on the last date of application, i.e. 6 October 2026. Candidates whose date of birth falls between 6 October 1991 and 6 October 2008 meet the basic age requirement, subject to the applicable rules.
Age Relaxation
The upper age limit is relaxed as follows, subject to the conditions of the notification:
- General category female candidates: 5 years
- Reserved category male candidates: 5 years
- Reserved category female candidates: 10 years
- General category Divyang/PwD male candidates: 10 years
- General category Divyang/PwD female candidates: 15 years
- Reserved category Divyang/PwD male candidates: 15 years
- Reserved category Divyang/PwD female candidates: 20 years
- Ex-Servicemen: As prescribed in the notification
In no case can the candidate’s age exceed the maximum permissible age of 45 years, after applying the applicable relaxation.
GSRTC Helper Application Fee 2026
Candidates are required to pay the joint examination online process fee through the OJAS Gujarat portal. The fee is non-refundable.

GSRTC Helper Salary 2026
Selected candidates will initially be appointed as Helper on a fixed-pay basis for five years.
GSRTC Helper Salary: ₹21,100 per month
The appointment will be contractual/fixed pay for the initial five-year period. During this period, candidates will not receive allowances or benefits other than those admissible under the applicable rules.
After successfully completing the prescribed five years of service, employees will become eligible for regular appointment on the basic pay applicable to the Helper category in GSRTC, subject to the Corporation’s rules and conditions.

The selection process for GSRTC Helper Recruitment 2026 is based on the marks obtained in the 100-mark MCQ examination along with apprenticeship weightage.

How the Merit List Will Be Prepared
- A merit list will be prepared based on the combined weightage obtained by candidates.
- Candidates shortlisted according to merit and the applicable category-wise vacancies will be called for document verification. GSRTC may call candidates for document verification in the prescribed ratio, generally around 1.5 candidates per vacancy, or as required.
- After document verification, the Corporation will prepare the provisional selection list and waiting list as per the recruitment rules.
GSRTC Helper Exam Pattern 2026
The GSRTC Helper written examination will contain 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions/marks and will be conducted for a duration of 2 hours.
The examination may be conducted through OMR or Computer-Based Recruitment Test (CBRT), as decided by GSRTC.

GSRTC Helper Recruitment 2026 Important Instructions
- Upload only your own photograph and signature. Incorrect or unauthorised uploads may lead to rejection.
- Keep all original documents relating to educational qualification, age, caste, experience and other eligibility conditions ready for verification.
- Candidates must enter accurate information in the application form.
- If multiple applications are submitted with the process fee paid, only the last submitted application will be considered valid and previous applications will be cancelled.
- Date of birth will be accepted according to the SSC certificate or School Leaving Certificate. An age-proof affidavit will not be accepted.
